Position Summary:

The Roofing Inspector at Panda Exteriors is responsible for conducting thorough inspections of residential and commercial roofing systems throughout Maryland to assess damage, identify repair needs, ensure code compliance, and provide detailed documentation for homeowners and insurance companies. This technical specialist role requires extensive knowledge of roofing materials, construction methods, and Maryland building codes.

Responsibilities

• Essential Job Functions:
• -Conduct comprehensive roof inspections: Examine structural integrity, material conditions, and identify damage from storms, age, or improper installation
• -Document findings: Create detailed reports with photographs, measurements, and specific observations to support insurance claims and repair recommendations
• -Ensure Maryland code compliance: Verify that all roofing work meets Maryland state and local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards
• -Provide technical guidance: Assist Maryland homeowners in understanding their roofing system's condition and explain repair or replacement options
• -Collaborate with insurance adjusters: Represent homeowners' interests during insurance claim processes, providing expert documentation and assessment
• -Support quality control: Conduct pre-installation and post-installation inspections to ensure all Panda Exteriors projects meet our high standards
• -Train team members: Share technical knowledge with Business Development Representatives and Sales team regarding roofing systems and common issues
• -Estimate material requirements: -Calculate accurate measurements and material quantities needed for roofing projects

Education Requirements

• MHIC Licensing and Development:
• -Panda Exteriors will sponsor and support your MHIC Salesperson License application
• -Company-provided training for MHIC requirements and regulations
• -Opportunity to work toward MHIC Contractor License with our support
• -Mentorship from experienced, licensed team members

Experience Requirements

• Qualifications:
• -2+ years of experience in roofing, construction, or inspection-related field
• -Roofing certification preferred (HAAG, InterNACHI, or equivalent)
• -Valid Maryland driver's license with clean driving record
• -High school diploma required, associate's degree or technical certification preferred
• -Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
• -Excellent communication abilities to explain technical findings to homeowners
• -Professional demeanor and customer service orientation
• -Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• -Must be 18 years or older (required for MHIC licensing)

Desired Skills

• Technical Knowledge Requirements:
• -Roofing systems expertise: In-depth understanding of various roofing materials (asphalt shingles, metal, tile, flat roof systems) and their specific installation requirements
• -Damage identification: Ability to recognize and document wind, hail, water, and age-related damage patterns
• -Maryland building code familiarity: Working knowledge of Maryland state and local building codes related to roofing
• -Safety protocols: Understanding of OSHA requirements and safety procedures for roofing inspections
• -Documentation standards: Knowledge of proper inspection reporting methods for insurance and permitting purposes
